M: Among SNSD members,you and YoonA trained together since young, can you talk about the relationship between you two?
Y: We both grew up together, and like the videos that you will able to find on the net when we were still trainees, at that time i didn’t realise how time passed by so fast. It only when i looked back now did i realise we have all grown up, the relationship we have are like family, we will have heart to heart talks with each other, we talk about recent movies and dramas, and occasionally we will reminisce of the fun things that happened when we are still young, and we will also look for each other’s younger photos and tease each other.
M: In the variety show ‘ANIMALS’ that you recently participate in, you revealed that its not easy for female celebrities to participate in reality shows, why do you have such thoughts?
Y: Actually when i went to Chimelong safari park in Guangzhou, my food and lodging were also settled there. Usually i have my manager and makeup artist etc that will be with me, however during this filming i did not have them with me, so i have to settle everything myself, especially for women, there are a lot of inconvenient areas, so i feel a little strenuous.
M: In the show you need to have contact with the animals, is this the first time you have direct contact with pandas?
Y: First time in my life! They are really so adorable, carrying them feels like carrying babies, super cute, i had chicks as pets before and kept them til they are fully grown, i also kept fishes before, and there was once i saw my pet fishes giving birth to many small fishes. Maybe it is looks boring to some people out there, but for me, this gives me a sense of achievement. Right now, i have a pet dog to accompany me, her name is called Harley (t/l note: this is most likely referring to Hani, but since the magazine put her name as that i just put it as it is), and she is 3 this year, i gave her this name because of a korean manhwa who has this name too. When i carried her home then, she keep on jumping and running about fast, so i change to this name, umm….. i have intention to keep one more.
M: Will SNSD comes out with new album this year?
Y: We are working hard preparing for it, our concept this time should be slightly different from the past concepts, it will be a more mature concept. As for song wise, i will also attempt in composing and writing lyrics,that makes me a little nervous.
M: I have notice that you often upload pictures of you doing Yoga, you uploaded one recently too. You really love to do Yoga
Y: I am that type that if i don’t do yoga, i will feel very uncomfortable. I also love horse-riding and water sports, but i also like football and baseball. But the latter both required many people to play together, its difficult to find people to play, so now i choose to just watch sports games.
M: When most of the female celebrities out there place whitening as their main focus, what are your views on this since you have the nickname of ‘Black Pearl’
Y: Haha…. actually i really like this nickname of mine! I specially came to look for masks made from black pearl powder during my visit to Hong Kong this time (M: Isn’t Korea well known to be skincare paradise? Do you still need to come Hong Kong to search?) Let me tell you this, this is one of the 5 items that must be bought in Hong Kong. are you slightly surprised?
M: Still on the topic of your skintone, other SNSD members all have fairer skin tone, but you are the direct opposite?
Y: If i am standing with the members, my skintone definitely do looks slightly tanner than theirs, i look a little out of place, sometimes i do feel unhappy, but what to do when i really love outdoor activities. Especially when i love suntanning and my skintone is also darker by nature, so it doesn’t really matter even if i got tanner.
M: The last drama you were in is ‘Fashion King’ back in 2012 where you were acting alongside with Yoo Ah In. Do you have plans to act in a drama again?
Y: Actually all along i do receive several scripts, but because i need adjust to group’s work, even if there are works that i really do wish to take part i have no choice but to give up. When i was filming ‘Fashion King’, i also went for acting classes and i realised that acting is something that need to be slowly trained over a long period of time, however i won’t give up on acting. (M: What kind of drama and role you will like to act?) Recently i did pay attention to one of your (country)’s movie, i think its called ‘Women Who Flirt’
M: So in the movie, you are more interested in Zhou Xun or Sonia Sui’s role?
Y: I think both of them acted very well. I like (Zhou Xun’s) the role who is clumsy and has a boyish haircut, on the other side, i also like(Sonia Sui’s) the role who love to do aegyo and, they are both challenging, i have confidence to play both roles well, do you believe me?
M: As an idol in the entertainment industry, what are you thoughts on fashion trends?
Y: I am always keeping up with the trends, this year spring/summer i think there will be more clothes that are more towards bright and vibrant colours, but i am particular in love with black colour, when i wear black shirt, i love to match it with pink accessories. (M: So you should love DIY too right?) Ah… i don’t have such talents, so i don’t know how to DIY

X: What are you busy with recently?
Y: I just have a longest break ever since my debut. During this period i spent a lot of time training up my body, and also learning different things
X: Earliest in August, your conversation on the UFO platform with fans were revealed, you mentioned that during your break you have been watching tv and surfing net at home. Other than those, how do you spend your leisure time?
Y: It seem i indeed spent more time resting at home, but i am also exercising hard too
X: Have you ever have a Christmas break ever since you promote as a member of SNSD? If you get to have a break this Christmas, what will you do?
Y: From my memory, my Christmas has always been spent with the members. Compared to what i want to do, i am contented if i am able to spend the day happily and blissfully.
X: How are you spending Christmas this year?
Y: Hmm….. no plans yet!
X: Among the Christmas gifts that you have received so far, is there one that you like the most? Any unforgettable memories?
Y: Any Christmas gifts can make me happy! The most unforgettable Christmas will be the one i spent with the members in Japan promoting 2 years ago. In my memory that Christmas dinner is sumptuous, and the staffs in Japan also act as Santas Claus to build up the atmosphere.
X: Your favourite Christmas song?
Y: ‘LAST CHRISTMAS’
X: Between a singer and an actress, which role do you like more?
Y: Actually it is difficult for me to choose between singer and actress, and which role is more interesting and attractive. To me, the difference is that as a singer i am with my members but as an actress it is a solo activity. Occasionally i do feel lonely when i am working alone.
X: Regards to acting, is there any roles that you have desire to challenge?
Y: The roles i wish to try are sides that i have never display for the audience.
X: Other than acting, singing and hosting show, are there any fields that you wish to challenge? Have you ever thought of hosting a radio program or playing a role in a musical play like your members?
Y: Because i have tried narrating many times, many people said i am suitable to be a radio DJ. However, i am not a conversable person, i feel that it will be a huge challenge for me to be a DJ. Actually i enjoy narrating a lot, or should i put it this way, i do enjoy any channel that i am able to use my voice to express my feelings to the audience.
X: Looking back at 2014 survey by experts or online poll, you earn many 1st place for polls like “The most desirable female celebrity’s face”, “Top 10 Asian charming goddess”, “Idol fans with the most amount of rice wreath donated”, “Hallyu female star that chinese fans wish to spend Chinese valentine day with”. How do you feel about all these titles?
Y: Really? hehe. I am thankful to be able to earn these titles from such outstanding polls／surveys. I will work even harder in the future to be able to be involved in such voting.
X: How do you feel each time when you see the amazing support from SONE?
Y: To the dear supporters, i only have 3 words to say: ‘Sorry, Grateful and Love’. SONE are our motivation from the past til now. In the future they will still be our motivation. I will always be grateful for their support and love.
X: If you are not a celebrity now, how will you be now?
Y: Everyone think that no matter what i will most likely become a celebrity. But other than this, i am interested in culinary. Learning culinary, dancer or model? I am interested in these professions.
X: Give a sentence to ‘you’ 10 years from now.
Y: I want to be a 30 years old woman who can look back with no regrets
X: What do you wish for SNSD to be like 10 years later?
Y: By then, we are around 35 years old. I am also curious what will everyone be doing then. If its possible, my biggest wish is to continue the journey as a SNSD member together with SONE.
